Known as the “king of fruits”, mangoes are delicious and nutrientdense, and come in as many as 1,000 varieties. Native to southern and southeast Asia, the tropical fruit is now also grown in Central and South America, Africa and the Arabian peninsula.
Mangoes are seasonal fruits, with the fresh fruit season beginning in May. They are usually harvested while green but perfectly mature. Unripe mangoes are extremely sour. One mango contains about 3 grams of dietary fiber. Mangoes are high in antioxidant rich vitamin E, beta carotene and vitamin C, with one mango containing 96 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C. Research suggests that eating a diet rich in foods high in antioxidants reduces the risk of developing certain types of cancers and cardiovascular disease. Mangoes are also rich in vitamin B6, iron, potassium and magnesium.

Avocado is a bright green fruit with a large pit and dark leathery skin. Also known as alligator pears or butter fruit, avocados are a rich favorite of the produce section. They’re the go-to ingredient for guacamole dips, and a welcome addition to everything from salads and wraps to smoothies and even brownies. Avocados are regarded as a superfood, high in monounsaturated fat, which is a “good” fat that helps lower bad cholesterol, as long as you eat them in moderation. Avocados, which are actually berries (yes, that’s right!), are high in calories, so the recommended serving size is smaller than you’d expect. However, they are incredibly nutritious, low in sugar and contain nearly 20 vitamins and minerals. In a 100-gram serving, there are 485 milligrams of potassium, 81 micrograms of folate, 0.257

Cherries are iconic and beloved for a reason. They are sweet (even the sour ones), delicious, and fun to eat raw or cooked. Botanically, the cherry is part of the genus Prunus in the rose family, a relative of the apricot, peach, plum and almond. Both the sour (prunus cerasus) and sweet (prunus avium) cherry have a long lineage that probably originated in western Asia. Peak cherry harvest runs from late spring through summer. Sour cherries have a shorter window of availability, which makes them feel like a prized find when they show up at the market. The cherry is bursting with nutrients and healthy antioxidants. One cup of cherries (approximately 21 pitted) has just 90 calories and is a rich source of potassium and vitamin C, plus fiber and even a small amount of protein.

Native to China, where it has been cultivated for more than four thousand years, the lychee was considered to be the very finest fruit of the Celestial Empire. Sometimes also referred to as “the Chinese cherry”, it was traditionally offered as a gift by the emperor and has been celebrated by many poets. The fruit of Litchi chinensis, a tropical tree that stands 5 to 10 meters (and sometimes more than 15 meters) tall, lychee is a luscious fruit with intense aromas of rose and muscat. Its translucent and soft pulp, which envelops the center stone, is protected by a bark of red colour at maturity. This spherical fruit weighs an average of 24 grams. Rich in carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins B and C, it contributes to general health and wellbeing.
The main variety is Mauritius. Most of our lychee crop comes from seaside orchards near the Mediterranean coast and Sea of Galilee.
The Hong Long is outstanding because of its quick growth. It has a relatively small pit and the taste is sweet with hints of sour.
